The Military Psychiatry Branch of the Center for Psychiatry and Neuroscience at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research in Silver Spring, Maryland seeks early to mid-career scientist for a new Mental Health Services Researcher position. Funding is provided through the National Research Council (NRC) fellowship program
The candidate will be responsible for helping develop an active health services research program in the Center for Psychiatry and Neuroscience, aiding in the organization, development of research projects, and growth of research staff.
The Mental Health Services Researcher will develop, lead, and coordinate innovative studies on a range of Army mental health care topics. The candidate will join one of the Army’s leading mental health research teams focusing on utilization and delivery of mental health services in Army and DoD health care facilities.
Essential Responsibilities
Be a lead researcher on studies of access and quality of mental health care in the Army to include designing and directing research, evaluation, and other projects that may involve quantitative and qualitative methods, and advanced statistical or modeling techniques.
Be effective in communicating the goals and accomplishments of our research team in order to coordinate with other agencies throughout the Department of Defense in wide-ranging research projects and to coordinate institutional review board protocol submissions.
Present and publish findings of health services research to better inform public health and Army operations of new directions for clinical care.

Eligibility:
Candidates for the position should have:
a Ph.D. or equivalent training in mental health services research or clinical psychology,
as well as at least 3-5 years post-doctoral experience with demonstrated experience with health care delivery data and quantitative methods,
and an extensive track record of peer-reviewed publications.
experience in designing studies to examine mental health care delivery systems involving large administrative linked databases is highly desirable.
