1) What applicants should know before choosing to apply for your MBA programs? What an applicant should expect? When choosing to apply for MBA programmes candidates should definitely speak to school representatives and current students and alumni. This will help them to form an opinion for the culture of the school, which will ultimately determine which programme they would feel most comfortable in, ensuring that they thrive on the programme. RSM has an extremely international and diverse environment. Thus, our candidates need to be open for change and willing to adapt to new circumstances. They will be confronted with numerous new viewpoints and as such need to be flexible and eager for new experiences and stimuli. The programme is a rigorous one that requires commitment but ultimately the rewards make up for the hard work. |
2) How much work experience students should have before applying for an MBA?Do you think that applicants with few years of work experience can also benefit from an MBA degree? We require a minimum of three years of work experience by the start of the MBA programme for all applicants. We look at the depth and the scope of the work experience. We are interested to know what and how the professional background of our candidates will add to the in-class dynamic and level of conversation in the MBA. As such, it is not so mcuh about the length of experience, but the content, context and richness thereof. |
3) How do schools view students who did their undergraduate studies in a non-traditional (non-business) field? ωAt RSM diversity is a valued asset and integral part of the MBA experience. Thus, we welcome non-traditional backgrounds in class. These participants often bring a wealth of experience to the subject matter that challenges assumptions of fellow participants and causes them to investigate new approaches and new ways of thinking. |
4) Have you seen any change in the profiles of the applicants in the last five years - during the financial crisis? We have seen similar type of profiles across the past few years. Our participants typically bring rich diverse backgrounds to class. They are interested in sustainability and want to contribute. They have high level of work experience and solid academic backgrounds. Most importantly, they are open to the experiences that the MBA will bring. |
5) Finally, I would like to ask you about the career-paths of your graduates? (i.e. any records/numbers? redirecting or boosting their previous careers?)
